Harrington was traded from San Jose as part of the Timo Meier blockbuster move and was subsequently waived the same day only to be claimed by the Anaheim Ducks Tuesday. The 29-year-old defenseman has a goal, six assists, 22 SOG and a -7 plus/minus through 28 games with the San Jose Sharks this season.

The Devils have acquired Scott Harrington, Timo Meier, Santeri Hatakka, Zachary Emond, Timur Ibragimov, and a 2024 5th Round Pick from the Sharks for Shakir Mukhamadullin, Fabian Zetterlund, Nikita Okhotyuk, Andreas Johnsson, a Conditional 2023 1st Round Pick, a Conditional 2024 2nd Round Pick and a 2024 7th Round Pick.

Harrington signed a deal with the Sharks in September and tallied seven points (1G / 6A) in 28 games this season. Harrington provides the Devils' with some organizational depth on the blueline after sending Mukhamadullin and Okhotyuk the other way.

Harrington was a healthy scratch for the Sharks' previous contest but will draw back into the lineup Tuesday as they take on Tampa Bay. The 29-year-old defenseman has a goal, five assists, 18 SOG and a -4 plus/minus through 20 games played so far this season.

Harrington was a healthy scratch in Detroit on Tuesday but will replace Andrew Peeke on Thursday. Peeke is out with a hand injury, so Harrington will suit up for his 10th game of the season--he comes in with two assists and a minus-6 rating.
