Prince, 23, was a second round pick (61st overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft. Prince had fallen a bit behind some other Senators prospects, so they’ve moved him to create a roster spot for Matt Puempel to be recalled. Prince has three goals and nine assists (12 points) in 42 games with the Senators this season.
The Senators will go with seven defensemen tonight, so Prince will be a healthy scratch in Florida. Patrick Wiercioch will take his spot in the lineup, but Mark Borowiecki is the blueliner who is expected to play some forward.
Prince has been a healthy scratch in the last five games, but he will be back in the lineup on Tuesday in Dallas. Prince will skate on the second line and comes into tonight’s game with three assists in 11 games this season.
Prince, 22, was a second round pick in 2011, and had one assist in two games with the Senators last season. Prince spent the majority of the season with Binghamton (AHL) where he had 28 goals and 37 assists (65 points) in 72 games.
Prince had one assist and two shots on goal while averaging 10:29 TOI in two games during his recall. The 22-year-old got a nice taste of the NHL and even picked up his first career point in the process.
