Matthias has been out since January 12th and just because he was activated this afternoon, the 30-year-old is not expected to draw into the Jets lineup on Tuesday. Matthias didn’t bring a lot of offence earlier in the season, picking up just three points (1G / 2A) in 25 games before getting hurt.
Matthias has missed the last four games and was moved on IR this afternoon to open up a roster spot for Tucker Poolman to be recalled from Manitoba (AHL).

Matthias suffered the injury in Saturday’s loss to the Senators and he will not travel on the Maple Leafs’ upcoming four-game road trip.
van Riemsdyk will miss the next 6-8 weeks, so Matthias will get the first crack on the Maple Leafs’ top line with Tyler Bozak and P.A Parenteau. Matthias has just 12 points (3G / 9A) in 39 games this season.
