Elliott, Hunwick and Porter the healthy scratches for #Avs tonight

Elliott was expected to be a healthy scratch for the team's last game but drew in due to Ryan O'Reilly's sudden illness. The younster likely watches a few from the press box and could possibly even get demoted. He has four goals and 11 points in 29 games.

Stefan Elliott might be packing for Lake Erie right now. He played just 8:57, including 3:38 on the power play. I’ve had several conversations with Joe Sacco about Elliott, and the bottom line is, the kid is 20-years-old and in his first pro season, and wherever he is, the Avs want him playing maximum minutes. And logging just 8:57 with the big club isn’t enough.

If you own Elliott, you should probably drop the youngster as he figures to go back to the AHL.

Elliott deserved to stay, mostly because he’s just a better player than half the guys already on the Avs’ defensive roster. He has much more offensive upside than anyone, and he moves the puck around the ice very quickly. He did all the right things in training camp.

Elliott failed to make the roster but should be on the Avs by the end of the season. Last season the younster potted 31 goals and 81 points, establishing himself as one of the WHL's top defensemen. He should quickly take over the role as go-to, puck-moving defender on the Avs blue line.

If they keep Stefan Elliott on defense – which I predict will happen.

With the injury to Jan Hejda, Elliott has become one of the frontrunners to make the team. Last season the younster potted 31 goals and 81 points, establishing himself as one of the WHL's top defensemen. He should quickly take over the role as go-to, puck-moving defender on the Avs blue line.
