The Avalanche recalled Stefan Matteau from Colorado (AHL).

The Avalanche are likely going to be without Nathan MacKinnon (COVID), Valeri Nichushkin (upper-body) and Gabriel Landeskog (suspension) on Saturday, so Matteau will make his Avalanche debut. The 27-year-old has 11 points (6G / 5A) in 91 career NHL games with the Devils, Canadiens, Golden Knights and Blue Jackets.

Matteau is a former first-round pick (No.29 overall in 2012) but has picked up just six points (3G / 3A) in 56 career NHL games with the Devils and Canadiens. Prior to being called up by Vegas, Matteau had four goals and one assist in 19 games with Chicago (AHL). He will replace Will Carrier (upper-body) on the fourth line tonight.

Matteau has picked up one assist in six games since being acquired from the Devils at the trade deadline. Matteau will be a healthy scratch for the second time in three games—he comes out with Lars Eller re-entering the lineup.

Matteau, 22, was a first round pick in 2012, but has yet to pan out at the NHL level. The 6-foot-2, 220 lbs. forward has just one goal in 20 games this season and just five points (3G / 2A) in 44 career NHL games.

Matteau, 20, was the Devils first round pick (29th overall) in 2012. He has one goal and eight assists (9 points) in 26 games with Albany this season. Matteau has one goal and two assists in 17 career NHL games.
