Mason has played just one period thus far for the Flyers, making nine saves on nine shots in a 4-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets Saturday in relief of starter Ilya Bryzgalov. Mason, the 2009 Calder Trophy winner as a rookie with the Columbus Blue Jackets, was acquired in a trade last week in exchange for Michael Leighton and a 2015 third round draft pick. Mason has a career record of 96-99-27 with a 2.90 goals against average and a .903 save percentage. He also has 19 career shutouts.

Steve Mason is a former rookie of the year will replace Leighton as Ilya Bryzgalov's backup.

It will be Mason's first start since March 5th.

Mason has lost each of his last three starts allowing nine goals on 96 shots (.906 SV%). He has a solid matchup tonight vs. an Oilers team that sits 14th in the Western Conference. However Mason hasn't been a good fantasy option this season and with all the injuries Columbus is dealing with he likely won't be.

Mason stopped 26 of 27 shots in a losing effort in his last start when the Blue Jackets were unable to score on Corey Crawford. Mason takes on the very same Blackhawks tonight where he will look to play well again. Hopefully for his sake Columbus will be able to find the back of the net.

Mason draws back in after Bobrovsky had started in the last three games. Mason has given up 3 or more goals in 5 of his 7 starts this season.

Mason has won 2 of his last 3 starts posting a 2.70 GAA and .913 SV%. He has a pretty good matchup against the Coyotes, but he will need to outplay Mike Smith if he is going to register a win.

Mason and Bobrovsky have been splitting starts this year (Bobrovsky-7, Mason 5) and it mostly has to do with neither one of them is outperforming the other. Mason is 1-4-0 with a 3.00 GAA and .900 SV% while Bobrovsky is 2-3-2, 2.98 GAA and .896 SV%, almost identical numbers. However we can't post all the blame on the goalies, those numbers are just the product of a mediocre goalie on a bad NHL team.

You likely aren't relying on Bobrovsky or Mason but the last thing you need is another coach determined to confuse fantasy owners up until gametime. Bobrovsky stayed well after practice today to work on some drills which typically indicates that he won't be starting the next day.

Mason got his first win in his last start where he played very well vs. the Red Wings. It looks like the Blue Jackets coaching staff is rewarding his good performance with another start. However he has a tough matchup tonight vs. the Kings.

Mason will get his 4th start of the season, he is 0-3 with a 2.97 GAA and .895 SV%. He has a tough matchup against the Red Wings, this isn't a good spot start opportunity. Look elsewhere.

Mason will get his third start of the year tonight against the WIld. He us currently 0-2 with a 4.06 GAA and .879 SV% . Mason will look to get his season back on track tonight, he is the definite #2 in Columbus which doesn't warrant much fantasy value.

Mason didn't play all that well in his first start of the season, although he was peppered. He gave up 5 goals on 42 shots against the Coyotes. The task doesn't get any easier tonight for Mason as he'll face an upstart Blackhawks team.

Mason was in a battle for the starting job in camp but Bobrovsky started the first two games of the year and played very well. It appears like Mason is the backup for now. Mason doesn't have any fantasy value as long as he is the backup.

In two career starts against the Isles, Mason has a 1-0-1 record with a 0.96 GAA and .960 SV%.

In 11 career starts against the Avs, Mason has a 3-6-2 record with a 3.40 GAA, .883 SV% and one shutout.

Mason has basically been ruled out for the rest of the season. Despite slightly improved play, he finishes the month of March with a 3.19 GAA.

Mason was injured during this morning's practice and is now out indefinitely. Keep checking his status but the starting goalie is certainly running out of time.
