The Capitals recalled Taylor Chorney and he will make his Capitals debut on Thursday.

Chorney, 28, had 19 points (4G / 15A) in 62 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season. Now with the Capitals organization, Chorney will make his debut tonight, replacing Nate Schmidt in the lineup.

The 27-year-old has 19 points (4G / 15A) in 62 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. He has appeared in two games with the Penguins earlier in the season.

Kris Letang missed Monday’s practice, so if he is unable to go, then Chorney would play, but he is likely just being recalled as an insurance defenseman. He has two goals and seven assists in 34 games with WBS this season.

Chorney, 27, has six points (2G / 4A) in 25 games with WBS this season. He has one goals and six assists in 61 career NHL games. With Christian Ehrhoff’s status still uncertain and Olli Maatta out with mumps, the Penguins recalled Chorney and 20-year-old Derrick Pouliot.

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenceman Alex Plante and assigned defenceman Taylor Chorney to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.

Chorney has no points through four games between the Oilers and St. Louis Blues. He holds no fantasy hockey value.
