Coach Lindy Ruff says left wing Thomas Vanek will be out at least a week with an upper-body injury that will require more evaluation.

Vanek has been in and out of the lineup for most of the season and can't gut through tonight's game. Clearly playing through injury, the top line left wing has only a goal and an assist in 2012.
The Sabres received another injury scare in the opening period when Thomas Vanek was drilled by a Tyler Myers shot. Vanek slowly glided to the bench, but returned to the ice moments later, only to retreat to the dressing room later in the period. The forward did come back for the 2nd period and played the remainder of the game.
Vanek has played through several injuries this season so it should be no surprise that he stayed in the game. Expect the scoring winger to take a few maintenance days for the bumps and bruises.

WGR's Joe Buscaglia is at Sabres practice and reports that Thomas Vanek is missing once again. The Sabres forward left last night's game in Toronto in the 2nd period with the same injury that's kept him out of practice this week. Vanek will meet with team doctors later today and go from there.
