Boston has signed Trent Frederic to a two-year, $4.6 million contract extension ($2,300,000 AAV).

Frederic enjoyed a breakout season with the Bruins in 2022-23 with 17 goals, 14 assists, 120 SOG, 57 PIMs and a +28 plus/minus while playing a bottom-six role and has signed a two-year, $4.6 million contract extension ($2,300,000 AAV). The 25-year-old centre was Boston's 2016 first-round pick (29th overall) and has collected 29 goals, 54 points and 194 PIMs across 198 career NHL games.

Trent Frederic is expected to draw back into Boston's lineup for Game 6.

Frederic was a healthy scratch for Boston's Game 5 loss but will draw back into the lineup for Game 6 as he replaces Jakob Lauko. The 25-year-old has yet to pick up a point through four games so far in the playoffs, but has 10 PIMs, seven SOG and a -1 plus/minus.

Frederic suffered an upper-body injury in Monday's win over the Lightning and is questionable to play Wednesday. Frederic missed Tuesday's practice, which isn't a good sign for his availability. Craig Smith will draw into the lineup if Frederic is unable to play.

Frederic was banged up in the Bruins' last game on March 18th but was on the ice for Wednesday's practice and will be a game-time decision on Thursday. Frederic, who has four goals and one assist in 28 games this season, is expected to play in the bottom-6 but should see some PP2 usage with Jake DeBrusk still out.

Frederic will likely make his season debut on Friday night because Zach Senyshyn is out for at least four weeks with a lower-body injury. Frederic, who has five assists in 15 AHL games this season, failed to register a single point in 15 games with Boston in 2018-19.

The Bruins have recalled Trent Frederic from Providence (AHL) under emergency conditions.

With Lee Stempniak being sent back to Providence on Monday, the Bruins needed to add another forward to the roster before Tuesday’s game. Frederic will likely slide into the lineup as the third line centre with Charlie Coyle moving up to play the wing on the second line. Frederic has not recorded a point in 11 NHL games this season but has 20 (11G / 9A) in 45 AHL contests.
