Daley battled a lower-body injury towards the end of training camp but was back on the ice for Wednesday’s practice, where he skated on the second pair and top power-play unit. With Mike Green out to start the season, Daley should see plenty of power-play time for the Red Wings.
Daley was forced to leave Saturday’s game vs. the Hurricanes with a lower-body injury and won’t be available for the Red Wings’ back-to-back to start the week. Joe Hicketts has been recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL) and will make his NHL debut in Daley’s spot on Monday.
Daley was on the ice for Monday’s practice and said he is feeling good, but head coach Jeff Blashill said that he won’t play against the Kings.
Daley was injured in Friday’s overtime loss in New York and will undergo an MRI later today. Daley will be replaced by David Booth, who will draw in as a 12th forward, making Xavier Ouellet their sixth defenseman.
Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill said postgame that Daley may have a stinger but it may be more serious so he will undergo an MRI on Saturday, making it very unlikely that he will be in the lineup tonight vs. the Devils. The Red Wings were already playing with seven defensemen, so expect Xavier Ouellet to remain as the sixth D-man and for David Booth to slide back in up-front.
Daley left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury but took part in the morning skate today, so it looks like he will play tonight vs. the Sabres. The Red Wings have called him a game-time decision so monitor his status during pre-game warmups. Daley has just one assist in 19 games so far this season.
Daley left Wednesday’s win after playing just 10:24 TOI and did not return. With Luke Witkowski suspended for 10 games and Danny DeKeyser still not ready to go, the Red Wings have recalled Brian Lashoff to take Daley’s spot if he can’t play on Friday.
Daley, 33, is a strong skater that will add some speed to the Red Wings’ blueline and help their power-play in 2017-18. Daley won’t put up crazy point totals, but dud score 16 goals in 2014-15 and is coming off of a season where he had 19 points (5G / 14A) in 56 games with the Penguins.
Daley suffered a knee injury on Tuesday and underwent surgery that will keep him sidelined until about April 6th, which would leave just three games left in the regular season. Luckily for the Penguins, Daley should be back for the playoffs.
Daley skated during Tuesday’s morning skate in a no contact jersey, but is ready to rejoin the lineup tonight after missing the last five games with an upper-body injury. Daley was originally listed as week-to-week, so his return to the lineup comes as a bit of a surprise. With Kris Letang, Olli Maatta and Brian Dumoulin all out, Daley will likely play a big role in his first game back. He has three goals and eight assists (11 points) in 31 games this season.
