Wotherspoon, 23, spent the majority of last season with Stockton (AHL), where he had 10 points (2G / 8A) in 53 games, but also appeared in 11 games with Calgary. Wotherspoon will likely start the 2016-17 campaign with Stockton, but will be one of the first defensemen recalled.
Wotherspoon has one assist in 11 games with the Flames this season but has been reassigned with Deryk Engelland back in the Flames lineup. Wotherspoon returns to Stockton where he has six assists in 45 games.
Wotherspoon has failed to record a point and has been limited to just 6:39 TOI/GP in six playoff games so far. The 22-year-old will take a seat with the more experience Rapheal Diaz getting back into the lineup after missing the last 12 games with a lower-body injury.
Wotherspoon, 22, has registered 24 points (2G / 22A) in 61 games with Adirondack this season. He has registered four assists in 14 career NHL games. He has been recalled because Raphael Diaz is questionable for Saturday.
Mark Giordano was injured on Wednesday and the Flames fear he could miss a significant amount of time. While Giordano is still being evaluated, the Flames have recalled Tyler Wotherspoon as insurance for their captain.
Wotherspoon did not get into a game during his recall. He heads back to Adiriondack where he has 15 points (2G / 13A) in 39 games this season.

Wotherspoon left Monday's game with an upper-body injury and did not return, however he is on the ice this morning an will play vs. the Ducks tonight. He is a big-boy at 6-foot-2, 203 lbs. and has recorded one assist in his first three NHL games since being recalled last week.
Wotherspoon, 20, was just in his third NHL game but played just 10:23 before leaving the contest. No word on how serious his injury is at this point.
