Fiddler left Tuesday’s game with a lower-body injury and will miss at least three weeks. With Fiddler out, expect Sergey Kalinin to be back in the lineup on Thursday.
Fiddler, 36, is in the twilight of his NHL career, but is coming off of a decent offensive season for a 4th line centre—he had 12 goals and 10 assists (22 points) in 82 games with the Stars and should be expected to be between 20-30 points again in 2016-17 with the Devils.
Fiddler rejected a contract extension from the Stars a few weeks ago, but the two sides were able to make it work. Fiddler had six goals and 17 assists (23 points) in 76 games. The veteran forward plays a strong two-way game and won 52.2% of his face-offs. He is a good penalty-killer and is more useful for the Stars than your fantasy squad.
Fiddler will miss his fifth consecutive game tonight. The 33-year-old veteran has a career high of 32 points ('07-'08) and has just eight points in 28 games this season, he is not fantasy relevant.
Fiddler left Saturday’s game in the first period and did not return. “He’s going to be out with an upper body [injury] for at least this week,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “We’ll see where he is at the end of this week.” With Fiddler out, Ruff will have to shuffle his lines. He put Cody Eakin in Fiddler’s spot between Antoine Roussel and Ryan Garbutt during Monday’s practice, a move he made in Saturday’s game as well.
Fiddler didn’t practice Saturday.
Expect Fiddler to center the third line tonight. He has seven goals and 18 points through 54 games.
Expect Fiddler to play more of an offensive role due to the team's injuries. He has exactly one PP over the past three seasons.
Fiddler will play tonight but there is a chance he doesn't make it through the entire game. The third line center leads all Stars forwards with 33 blocked shots.
Fiddler is expected to get back into the lineup for tomorrow's game.
