Rask was on the ice for warmups on Friday, but ended up being scratched, so he will be a game-time decision for the second game of the Hurricanes’ home-and-home with the Blue Jackets. Monitor his status when Carolina hits the ice for warmups at 6:30 p.m ET.
Rask suffered an upper-body injury in Wednesday’s game, but he was on the ice for the Friday’s morning skate. He is listed as a game-time decision, but his presence on the ice this morning is an encouraging sign that he will play.
Rask left Saturday’s game late in the third period, but was on the ice for practice this morning and reportedly showed no ill effects. Expect Rask to play tomorrow vs. the Panthers.
Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters said that Rask needs a night off and will be back in the lineup on Tuesday vs. the Islanders. Rask has been a minus-4 rating in the last two games. With Rask coming out, Chris Terry will get into the lineup.
Rask will remain with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL. Look for him to challenge for a roster spot as soon as next season.
