The Wild are signing Yakov Trenin to a four-year worth $14.0 million ($3.5M AAV).

Trenin will get a big pay upgrade as he signed a four-year, $14 million contract ($3,500,000 AAV) to join the Minnesota Wild on Monday. The 27-year-old bottom-six forward was acquired by Colorado at the trade deadline last season from Nashville and had 12 goals, 17 points and 40 PIMs in 76 games played in 2023-24.

Colorado is expected to announce the plan with Yakov Trenin ahead of Game 6 on Friday after their fourth-line forward left Game 5 due to an undisclosed injury after just 2:16 TOI. The 27-year-old was acquired at the trade deadline and has locked down his fourth line centre roll well with a goal, eight SOG and four PIMs in 10 games played in the playoffs.

Trenin was a late scratch on Monday, replaced by Chris Wagner, and will remain out of the lineup on Thursday against the Minnesota Wild. Trenin has two goals, 16 shots, and 26 hits in 10 games with the Avalanche.

The Avalanche have acquired Yakov Trenin and Graham Sward from the Predators for Jeremy Hanzel and a 2025 third-round pick.

The Avalanche acquired Brandon Duhaime on Thursday and added even more depth to their bottom six by acquiring Trenin later in the day. In 60 games with the Predators this season, Trenin had 14 points (10G / 4A), 94 shots, and 168 hits.

Trenin was forced to miss the Predator's previous game with a lower-body injury but will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game vs. the Wild. The 25-year-old has a goal and four points with a -1 plus/minus through 14 games played this season while averaging 14:15 TOI per night.

Trenin closed out the 2020 season with the Predators after spending much of the year in the AHL. During his time with the Predators, he scored two goals with four assists (six points) in 21 games. He was tied for third on the Milwaukee Admirals in scoring with 20 goals despite playing just 32 AHL contests before being called-up. Trenin will likely factor in on the Predators' third or fourth line in 2021.
