With Marcus Johansson likely out on Tuesday, the Capitals have recalled Sill to fill-in. Sill has one goal in seven games with the Capitals and nine points (2G / 7A) in 35 games with Hershey this season.
Sill has been suspended for two games because of his hit on Adam McQuaid on Tuesday. With McQuaid out, Michael Latta is expected to be in the lineup on Thursday.
Sill who was acquired from the Penguins in the Daniel Winnik trade yesterday will make his Leafs debut tonight vs. the Flyers. Sill is expected to skate on a line with Peter Holland and David Booth.
Sill, 26, is a scrappy player, who is just a salary dump for the Penguins and also a pending unrestricted free agent. The remainder of the season will likely serve as a tryout for the Maple Leafs heading into 2015-16. He has terrible possession numbers though, so the new regime in Toronto may not like that.
Sill has missed the last 11 games with an upper-body injury, but will be back in the lineup tonight vs. the Bruins. Sill will replace Marcel Goc, who is out with an illness. Sill has no points with a minus-1 rating in 25 games this season.
Sill suffered the upper-body injury in his first shift on Friday vs. the Flames. He missed Saturday’s game and will obviously miss tonight’s game after being placed on IR. He is eligible to return Saturday vs. the Panthers.
Sill didn't record a point and was a minus-4 in 20 games with the Penguins.
