Zary was skating on a line with Nazem Kadri and Martin Pospisil at practice on Thursday but is still not likely to return to the lineup on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks. Zary has been effective with the Flames this season and had three points (0G / 3A), five shots, and six hits in his last four games before his injury.

Morton turned heads in his Senior season at Minnesota State University (Mankato) and earned himself a one-year, two-way contract worth $950,000 with Calgary that starts in the 2024-25 season. The 24-year-old undrafted forward had 24 goals, 34 points and 10 PIMs in 37 games in his final NCAA season and will join the Calgary Wranglers for the remainder of the season.

Nikita Okhotyuk will be a healthy scratch for the first time as a member of the Flames, allowing Hanely to re-enter the lineup. In four games with the Flames, Hanley has one assist, a -2 plus/minus, and 10 hits.

Okhotyuk has played three straight games since being acquired in a trade last week but will be a healthy scratch on Monday. Joel Hanley will draw back into the Flames lineup as his replacement against the Washington Capitals.

The Flames will turn to Wolf for a third straight game with Jacob Markstrom still sidelined with a lower-body injury. Wolf has been sensational at every level but, before this stint, has had trouble translating that to NHL success in limited action. That said, the 22-year-old Wolf may be finding his form with the Flames, as he has saved 67 of 70 shots (.957 SV%) since Markstrom's injury and has won both of his two starts. The Flames enter action as -130 home favourites against the Washington Capitals.
