Calgary has signed Sam Morton to a one-year, two-way contract worth $950,000 starting in 2024-25.

Morton turned heads in his Senior season at Minnesota State University (Mankato) and earned himself a one-year, two-way contract worth $950,000 with Calgary that starts in the 2024-25 season. The 24-year-old undrafted forward had 24 goals, 34 points and 10 PIMs in 37 games in his final NCAA season and will join the Calgary Wranglers for the remainder of the season.

Wolf will start Monday vs. the Capitals.

The Flames will turn to Wolf for a third straight game with Jacob Markstrom still sidelined with a lower-body injury. Wolf has been sensational at every level but, before this stint, has had trouble translating that to NHL success in limited action. That said, the 22-year-old Wolf may be finding his form with the Flames, as he has saved 67 of 70 shots (.957 SV%) since Markstrom's injury and has won both of his two starts. The Flames enter action as -130 home favourites against the Washington Capitals.

Wolf will start Thursday vs. the Golden Knights.

Wolf was recalled on Tuesday after Jacob Markstrom was ruled out with a lower-body injury but served as the backup to Dan Vladar. Vladar allowed six goals in a 6-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche before Wolf entered the crease in relief in the third period and saved all three shots he faced. Wolf has been a tremendous prospect for the Flames in the AHL but has yet to see those numbers translate in the NHL, posting a 3.69 GAA and .880 SV% in seven appearances this season (1-3-1).

Pospisil will return on Tuesday from his three-game suspension.

Pospisil was suspended for three games after delivering a high hit on Seattle Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn. The Slovak-born Pospisil has six goals and nine assists in 45 games this season and will return to the Flames' lineup on Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Flames acquired Nikita Okhotyuk from the Sharks for a conditional 2024 fifth-round pick.

Okhotyuk will help fill out a Flames' defensive core that is less robust than it was a few weeks ago after dealing away Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin in trades before the deadline. The 23-year-old Okhotyuk registered eight points (1G / 7A), 126 hits, and 72 blocks while averaging 16:27 time-on-ice through 43 games with the San Jose Sharks.

Hanley will make his Flames' debut on Thursday vs. Tampa Bay.

With the Dallas Stars acquiring Chris Tanev, Hanley became disposable for the Stars and was placed on waivers, then claimed by the Flames on Tuesday. The 32-year-old Hanley has three points (0G / 3A), 35 hits, and 32 blocks in 32 games this season.

Bean will be a healthy scratch on Thursday vs. Edmonton.

The Blue Jackets opted for an 11-forward, seven-defensemen formation on Tuesday but will return to the traditional formation on Thursday as Bean will be a healthy scratch, allowing Kiril Marchenko to draw back into the lineup. Bean played 13:26 time-on-ice on Tuesday, tallying one assist.

Calgary has signed Daniil Miromanov to a two-year, $2.5 million ($1,250,000 AAV) contract extension.

Miromanov was acquired by Calgary earlier on Wednesday as part of the Noah Hanifin deal and has signed a two-year, $2.5 million contract extension with the Flames. The 26-year-old Russian defensemen had only appeared in four games with Vegas in 2023-24 after missing most of the season due to an undisclosed injury, failing to pick up a point while collecting six SOG and a -2 plus/minus.

The Flames acquired Daniil Miromanov in a three-team trade that included the Golden Knights and Flyers.

The Flames gave up Noah Hanifin to get Miromanov, a conditional 2025 first-round pick and a conditional third-round pick from the Golden Knights. Calgary retained 50 percent of Hanifin's contract. Miromanov, who will be an RFA at the end of the season, has played in just four NHL games this season, but has seven points (2G / 5A) in 29 career NHL games (all with Vegas).

Pospisil has been suspended three games for boarding the Kraken's Vince Dunn.

Vince Dunn exited the third period of Monday's game against the Flames after suffering the hit from Pospisil and is yet to return to the lineup, dealing with what the team has deemed to be an upper-body injury. Pospisil has six goals and nine assists in 45 games this season and will be eligible to return to the Flames' lineup for next Tuesday's game against the Avalanche.

With Zary sidelined due to an upper-body injury, the Flames recalled Matt Coronato from the Calgary Wranglers (AHL) on Monday. Zary has been effective with the Flames this season and has three points (0G / 3A), five shots, and six hits in his last four games.
