The Avalanche are riding a seven-game winning streak and will turn back to Georgiev in the crease after giving him the night off in their last contest. Georgiev has allowed three or fewer goals in three straight, including saving 32 of 34 shots (.941 SV%) in his last outing, a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Colorado enters action on Friday as a significant -390 home favourite against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Avalanche reassigned Kovalenko (leg) to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) on Tuesday as he continues injury rehabilitation.

Kovalenko suffered the injury towards the end of the KHL season and will report to the Eagles for further rehabilitation before potentially getting a look at the NHL level. Kovalenko is yet to make his NHL debut but has impressed in his last few KHL seasons. The 24-year-old winger had 11 goals and 24 assists in 42 games with the Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo this season.

After being a workhorse for most of the season, Alexandar Georgiev will serve as the backup to Annunen for the fourth time in the last nine games. Annunen has been tremendous when called upon lately, winning three straight and saving 86 of the last 88 shots he faced (.977 SV%). The Avalanche enter action as -208 road favourites on Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues.
