Dallas has signed Thomas Harley to an eight-year extension worth $10.587 AAV ($84.696M total).

Set to be an RFA at the end of the season, GM Jim Nill ensured that Harley will be a Dallas Star for the foreseeable future after signing him to a massive eight-year contract worth nearly $85 million ($10.587 AAV). Harley caught national attention after being a late addition to Team Canada at the Four Nations Face-Off. The 24-year-old Harley was drafted 18th overall by the Stars in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and is coming into his own in his third full season at the NHL level. He has eight points (1G / 7A) in 10 games so far this season.

Oettinger will start vs. Washington on Tuesday.

After losing four straight (0-3-1-), the Stars have won consecutive games, improving their record to 5-3-1 on the season. The team will return to Oettinger between the pipes on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals, hoping he can elevate his game after a pedestrian start to the season, posting a 2.98 GAA and .899 SV% in seven games (4-2-1). The Stars enter Tuesday's contest as -126 home favorites against a Capitals team leading the league defensively with only 21 goals allowed (2.33 GA / GP).

Oettinger will start vs. Los Angeles on Thursday.

After winning their first three games of the season, the Stars have lost three straight, outscored 13-5, and will hope to return to the win column on Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings. The Stars' tepid start to the season doesn't fall exclusively on Oettinger, who has been serviceable between the pipes, but he has allowed four or more goals in three of five games this season (3-2-0), which is out of character for the All-Star netminder. Still, the Stars enter Thursday's contest as -141 home favorites against a Kings team that has been outscored 25-19 early in the 2025-25 season (2-3-2).

Oettinger will start vs. Columbus on Tuesday.

After a 3-0-0 start to the season, the Stars have lost two straight (0-2-0), outscored 8-4 in those games. Oettinger has been serviceable between the pipes, but the Stars would love for him to elevate his game to another level when he tends the twine on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 26-year-old American netminder has a 2.95 GAA and .905 SV% through four games this season (3-1-0). The Stars enter Tuesday's contest as -182 home favorites against a 2-3-0 Blue Jackets team.

Duchene (upper-body) will be out vs. Columbus on Tuesday and is considered day-to-day.

Duchene was on the receiving end of a hit from Minnesota's Jacob Middleton that made contact with his head in last Tuesday's 5-2 win. After missing one game, Duchene returned to the lineup on Saturday, but seemingly re-aggravated his injury and will be sidelined on Tuesday as he continues his recovery. The 34-year-old Duchene signed a four-year contract extension with the Stars in the offseason and has two points (1G / 1A) through four games in 2025-26.
