The Blackhawks have sent Tanner Kero to Rockford (AHL).

Kero had a nice stint with the Blackhawks. Known more for his two-way play, Kero had one goal and two assists in 17 games, but his 1:37 SH/TOI per game was good for second among Blackhawks forwards. He goes back to the AHL with the team deciding to give Dennis Rasmussen a chance to make his NHL debut on Tuesday.

Smith will be a healthy scratch in Game 1.

Smith was a healthy scratch in the season finale after taking a delay of game penalty from the bench in the Red Wings OT loss to the Canadiends on March 9th. It looks like he is still in Mike Babcock’s doghouse, so he will sit in Game 1 while Alexey Marchenko makes his playoff’s debut.

Benn will have offseason hip surgery; expected to rehab for 4-5 months.

Benn had a crazy four-point season finale and five goals and five assists in his last three games to win the Art Ross Trophy this season. He played all 82 games, but will go under the knife after the Stars were eliminated from the playoffs. Benn is expected to be ready for training camp.
