Smith faces the Canucks tonight.

Smith stopped 48 of 50 shots in a huge shootout win versus the Sharks on Saturday. Smith has been on fire as off late, winning three straight starts and five out of his last six. In his last two starts he has made 89 saves en route to a 1.44 GAA and .967 SV%. He's got a tough matchup tonight vs. the Canucks.

Skinner is getting second opinion on his upper-body injury.

Skinner has been out since October 24th, but was expected to potentially return this week. He was not on the ice with the Hurricanes this morning, hopefully the second opinion does not reveal a serious injury for Skinner. He had three goals and six assists (nine points) in his first 10 games.

Kane (undisclosed) missed his second consecutive practice.

It was reported that Kane was given a maintenance day on Sunday, but he was also absent from today's gameday skate. The Jets take on the Red Wings tonight, so Kane's absence likely suggests that he will not be in the lineup. Monitor his status prior to puck-drop.

The Hurricanes have placed Jeff Skinner on IR retroactive to October 24, so he'll be eligible to return at any time.

Skinner has missed Carolina's last two games with an upper-body injury. He has already been ruled out for Friday and Saturday's games against the Lightning and the Rangers. Consider Skinner questionable to return on Tuesday.

Smith starts for the Coyotes.

Smith will get a second crack versus the Kings after being pulled after the first period just five days ago. He allowed four goals on 15 shots and didn't return to the crease for the second stanza. Historically he has been good vs. LA (9-4-0) but how much weight does that matter in 2013-14?
