Smith is expected to start in goal for Phoenix.

Smith allowed two goals on 29 shots in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Jets on Thursday. Smith was given the second night of the back-to-back off, but is expected to face the new-look Blues tonight. Ryan Miller is undefeated against the Coyotes in his career, so Smith will need to bring his A-game tonight.

Demers is likely to return to the Sharks’ lineup on Friday as they host Columbus in the final game before the Olympic break.

Demers has missed the last three games with a groin injury that was bothering him even before he came out after the Sharks’ loss in Calgary on January 30. “All signs point to yes,” said Demers, when asked if he was good to go, following the morning skate. Matt Irwin looks to be the odd-man out on the blue line.

Demers will miss his second straight game with a lower body injury when the Sharks host the Flyers on Monday night.

Head coach Todd McLellan would not get into much detail about Demers’ injury, other than to say he hurt it skating and it’s not an ankle or a knee. Demers is listed as day-to-day.
