Fresh off of their first victory of the season, snapping a three-game losing skid, the Oilers will switch to Pickard between the pipes on Thursday evening against the Nashville Predators. The Predators are off to a rough start, one of only two teams yet to record a point in the standings (0-3-0), and as such, the Oilers enter gameplay as -126 road favorites. The 32-year-old Pickard has struggled in two appearances this season (0-1-0), posting a 4.17 GAA and .778 SV% but was excellent as the Oilers backup netminder last season, posting a 2.45 GAA and .909 SV% in 23 outings (12-7-1).

Despite an unspectacular 3.54 GAA and .874 SV%, Ingram has yet to lose in three 2024-25 contests (3-0-0). Utah HC enters actions on Wednesday as -152 road favourites against the Ducks.

Justin Brazeau and Morgan Geekie will be healthy scratches for the Bruins on Wednesday as Max Jones and Riley Tufte will draw back into the lineup. After spending six season with the Anaheim Ducks, the 26-year-old Jones made his Bruins debut last week, recording a -1 plus/minus and four penalty minutes in 9:42 time-on-ice.

Skinner has struggled early in the season, mirroring the Oilers' ability to score only three goals through three games (0-3-0). The 25-year-old Skinner has allowed eight goals on 41 shots (.805 SV%) through two games this season but is hopeful to return closer to his 2.69 GAA and .909 SV% accumulated over his 123-game career before the start of the 2024-25 campaign. The winless Oilers enter action on Tuesday as -190 home favorites against the Philadelphia Flyers.

For the first time in his young career, Skinner enters the 2024-25 campaign as the undisputed starting goalie for the Edmonton Oilers. The 25-year-old Skinner had an up-and-down 2023-24 season, posting a 2.62 GAA and .905 SV% in 59 games (36-16-5), but had a 17-game stretch to end the season (11-2-3) where he allowed three or fewer goals in all but one game, posting a .922 SV% before leading his club to the Stanley Cup finals. Skinner and the Oilers will open the season against a Winnipeg Jets club he posted a 2-0-1 record against along with a 2.27 GAA and .910 SV%.

Jones came over from Anaheim has a free agent this summer and had 15 points (5G / 10A) in 52 games a season ago. Now that he's back healthy, he should be a member of the Bruins' fourth line on opening night.

Edmonton locked up a massive piece of their future on Tuesday after the Oilers agreed to an eight-year, $112 million contract extension ($14,000,000 AAV) with Leon Draisaitl starting at the beginning of the 2025-26 season. The upcoming 2024-25 campaign will mark Draisaitl's 11th NHL season, having surpassed the 100+ point plateau in five of the last six years. He will look to build off last year's rare down(ish) campaign which saw him still pick up an impressive 41 goals and 106 points in 81 games played.
