Kuemper hadn't started a game since March 1.
Cam Barker will sit tonight and Keith Ballard will play left wing again. Get Edler back in your lineup.
With B2B games next weekend Wild want two goalies and Matt Hackett hasn't played in awhile. Darcy Kuemper was recalled to take his place and will likely get a start on either Friday or Saturday of next week.
The play happened during Thursday's 2-1 Vancouver victory over the Coyotes.Edler was assessed a five-minute major after running into Smith behind the net late in the second period. Smith was injured on the play and finished the period but wasn't back in net for the third. He was replaced by Jason Labarbera. Edler will miss games on Saturday at Los Angeles and Sunday at Colorado. He is eligible to return on Tuesday when the Canucks host the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Edler's hearing is on the phone which means the max suspension he faces is five games.
Kuemper won his last start but that was way back on February 17. He has a solid 2.02 GAA and .934 SV% in his two starts. He has a tough matchup tonight vs a good Ducks team.
Niklas Backstrom started last night so Kuemper could start tonight with Josh Harding still on IR. The Wild didn't have a morning skate today so the starter won't be confirmed until closer to game-time.
With Niklas Backstrom playing last night and Josh Harding not feeling great the last couple of days it is expected that Kuemper will make his NHL debut tonight vs. the Canucks. Kuemper is 10-6-0 with a 1.79 GAA and .938 SV% in the AHL this season, but the Canucks are not an easy team to make your NHL debut against.

Kopitar was expected to miss 2-4 weeks when he first strained his knee.... Forget that! He only missed the Kings season opener. This is fantastic news for people who took Kopitar because you probably got him later than you should have because of the injury. Kopitar is a must-start in all formats.
Edler had his best season of his career last year. He is poised to continue his strong play this season. It wouldn't be outlandish to expect 30 points out of Edler in this season.
No real surprise here. Kopitar was expected to miss the start of the season. Monitor his status going forward and get him in your lineup as soon as he is ready to go.
Kopitar continues to progress faster than expected. He could return to the Kings soon. He's an elite talent, if you still have your draft get him before he falls.
Kopitar was originally expected to miss 2-4 weeks, but looks like he's going to be back sooner than expected. Good news for owners who got Kopitar much later than they should have. If you still have a draft... Don't let him drop too far.
Kopitar was expected to miss a few weeks with his knee injury, but is progressing well and could be back earlier than expected. Don't let him fall too far in your draft.
Kopitar was playing in a lower level Swedish league when sustaining the injury. He is expected to miss time if the season resumes in mid-January posing a problem for the Kings who had most players opt out of playing during the lockout.
Danault will get his feet wet in the AHL following another strong season in Juniors.
Lamb just completed his fourth year at the U. of Minnesota-Duluth, scoring nine goals and 31 points.
As expected, nothing to worry about with regards to the Kings' #1 centre. Kopitar currently leads the team in scoring with 14 goals and 42 points in 46 games.
Doesn't sound like something to worry about yet. Kopitar hasn't missed any playing time since taking a big hit from Brendan Morrow.
