Jake Allen first off the ice. Looks like he's getting the call again. #stlblues

Allen has won all three starts he has made since being recalled a couple of weeks ago to solidify the Blues goaltending. The 22-year-old has posted a 2.65 GAA and .913 SV% in those three starts. He has a decent matchup vs. a mediocre Coyotes team tonight.

With the team's success continuing with Allen in net, look for the Blues to continue playing him despite the presence of healthy veterans Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott.

Allen is 6-1 on the season with a 2.63 GAA and .903 SV% - outplaying last season's standout goalie tandem Halak and Elliott. No idea how long Hitch will ride the youngster but it could be safe to give up on Elliott - the lower performing goalie of the two - and hope that Halak gets reintroduced more down the stretch.

Jacob Markstrom leads them out... #FlaPanthers #NHL

Markstrom gave up two goals on the first two shots that he faced yesterday vs. Washington. He was pulled for Scott Clemmensen who didn't fair any better allowing five goals on 24 shots. Markstrom will start tonight vs. the Jets hoping for a better outcome than last night.

The rookie has been named the Blues’ starter for tonight, when they will face the Phoenix Coyotes for the first time this season.

The Blues’ save percentage, No. 1 in the NHL last season at .929, has fallen to No. 30 (.870) this year. With the recent goalie struggles the Blues have turned to rookie Jake Allen to get them back on track. Allen started four games while Halak was hurt and Elliott was struggling going 3-1-0 with a 2.62 GAA and .895 SV%. He has a solid matchup vs. the Coyotes tonight.

Less than an hour after Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to Los Angeles, in which the Blues gave away a 4-1 second-period lead, the team announced at 1 a.m. St. Louis time that it had recalled Allen from Peoria.

Blues GM Doug Armstrong did not confirm that Allen would start Thursday when the Blues travel to play Phoenix, saying, “Ken (Hitchcock) makes the lineup card, but I wanted to give him that opportunity. I just felt that when (Tuesday’s) game ended, we needed to look back on when we were having our most success, and what were some of the components, and Jake was one of those components. We think Jake has proven to be able to play at a high level over a short period of time.”

Bernier will get his second start in two days.

Bernier has been lights out this season so he deserves to start. In his last five starts he has won all five with a 1.00 GAA and .956 SV%. Quick has also played well but the Kings are going to ride the hot hand of Bernier. He only saw 19 shots last night vs. Nashville so he should be fresh tonight against the Blues.

Markstrom will start tonight vs. the Jets.

Markstrom will get the nod tonight for the Panthers and if he plays well will likely become the Panthers #1 with Jose Theodore out. He has a good chance to play well because the Jets aren't a great team but that being said, they have played well as of late. If Markstrom is available in your league he could make for a good start and could be worth keeping on your roster.

Bernier left the ice first at this morning's skate, so expect him to start.

Bernier has been great in a backup role this season. He has won his last four starts while only allowing one goal in each game. He has posted a .958 SV% over those four starts. He has a good matchup tonight vs. a Predators team with a weak offense, but he will need to outplay Pekka Rinne if he wants to record the win.
