Another terrific performance from Bernier, who has won four of his last six starts (4-2-0) while posting a 1.96 GAA and .937 SV%. It's still hard to trust a goalie who plays for the Red Wings but he's been outstanding and will look to beat the Sabres for the second time in a week tonight.
Markstrom allowed five goals on 31 shots in the Canucks loss to the Flames on Saturday. Markstrom has been excellent through most of the season but has struggled recently. He is on a three-game losing streak while allowing a combined 13 goals on 110 shots (.882 SV%). Tonight he'll try to get back on track vs. the Predators--he stopped 45 of 48 shots in a 6-3 win in his first start vs. Nashville (Nov.21).

There is no indication what Tatar is dealing with but a flu bug has been going through the Habs room, so it could be that. Consider Tatar a game-time decision and monitor his status as they hit the ice for warmups at 6:30 PM ET.
There is no word who will replace Lazar on Tuesday because the Sabres often go with 11 forward and seven defensemen, so that could be the strategy tonight.
Hischier required stitches in his knee midway through Saturday's game vs. the Stars and will not play tonight vs. Montreal. The good news is that the issue likely won't keep Hischier sidelined for very long but he'll miss at least one game. Jack Hughes moves up to the top-line and Joey Anderson makes his season debut with Hischier out.
