The 27-year-old has been sensational despite what his 14-13-1 record may show as he also has a 2.35 GAA and .924 SV%. He will face the Central Division-leading Dallas Stars, who rank fourth in goals per game (3.51) and 11th in shots per game (32.3).

Holmstrom has missed the Islanders' previous six games due to a lower-body injury but will be a game-time decision Tuesday as they take on the Stars. The 21-year-old, 2019 1st round pick (23rd overall) had been having a quiet rookie campaign prior to the injury, with a goal, an assist and eight SOG through 14 games with the Islanders.

Varlamov stopped 35 of 37 shots before leaving Saturday's game in Vegas with a lower-body injury and will head to the injured reserve. The Islanders recalled Cory Schneider from the AHL and he is expected to stay with the team until Varlamov is nursed back to full health.

Kyle Palmieri is travelling with the team and very close to returning (upper body).

Palmieri has played one game since Nov.21st due to an upper-body injury that has reaggravated itself and has been placed on the injured reserve after playing 10:46 in a game vs. Arizona Friday. The 31-year-old veteran winger has six goals, nine points and 39 SOG through 21 games prior to hitting the shelf again due to injury.
