Varlamov was the first goalie off of the ice at the Islanders morning skate.

Varlamov gave up two goals on 37 shots in the Islanders win over the Panthers last Saturday. Varlamov and Thomas Greiss continue to alternate games, with both netminders playing well in recent outings. As a former member of the Avalanche, Varlamov has seen a lot of the Jets in recent years—going 4-3-0 with a .928 SV% against them over the last three years.

Rittich will start Thursday vs. the Red Wings.

Rittich stopped 21 of 22 shots in the Flames win over the Flyers on Tuesday. It was a nice bounce-back game for Rittich, who gave up six goals in Vegas in his previous outing. The 27-year-old has been inconsistent to begin 2019-20, allowing at least four goals in three starts and less than two goals in the other three starts. Overall, he is 3-2-1 with a 2.80 GAA and .912 SV% and is a must-start against the Red Wings on Thursday.

Rittich will start Tuesday vs. the Flyers.

Rittich gave up six goals on 30 shots in the Flames’ loss in Vegas on Saturday. Cam Talbot made his Flames debut in a loss to the Sharks on Sunday, so they will come back to Rittich on Tuesday. The 27-year-old netminder is 1-0-1 with a 2.00 GAA, .946 SV% and one shutout in two starts in Calgary so far.

Schneider will start Monday afternoon vs. the Panthers.

Schneider allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Devils loss in Boston on Saturday. Today will be the first time that a Devils goalie has starts two games in a row and Schneider comes in searching for his first win of the season. He has allowed a combined nine goals on 87 shots (.897 SV%). He’ll face a Panthers team that has stumbled out of the gate, going 1-2-2 while averaging just 2.60 goals per game.

Varlamov will start Saturday vs. the Panthers.

Varlamov was pulled after allowing four goals on 19 shots in the Islanders' loss to the Oilers on Tuesday. With Thomas Greiss starting Friday in Carolina, Varlamov will get the tail-end of the back-to-back vs. the Panthers. Florida hasn’t played al that well early-on, so Varlamov makes for a solid option for those in need of wins this weekend.

Rittich will start in Vegas on Saturday.

Rittich has been outstanding to start the season as he refuses to let Cam Talbot see the ice. The 27-year-old owns a .929 SV%, a 2.46 GAA, and a 2-1-1 record through his first four games. He'll see plenty of work tonight against a Golden Knights team that's averaging 34 shots per game.

Schneider will start in Boston on Saturday.

Schneider allowed four goals on 34 shots in the Devils loss in Philadelphia on Wednesday. The Devils are still looking for their first win on the season and it seems unlikely that it will come Saturday in Boston. Schneider is 2-11-1 in his last 13 road starts, so steer clear of him tonight.

Cizikas (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision on Friday.

Cizikas missed Thursday’s practice and Friday’s morning skate with what could be a lingering ankle injury from the preseason. Head coach Barry Trotz said “Casey will probably be a game-time decision,” so keep an eye on the fourth line centre as they hit the ice for warmups at 7:00 pm.

Casey Cizikas
Rittich will start Thursday in Dallas.

Rittich surrendered four goals on 40 shots in the Flames overtime loss to the Kings on Tuesday. It was a disappointing effort against a beatable team but Rittich is expected to make his fourth consecutive start tonight in Dallas. Rittich was 0-2-1 with a 2.73 GAA and .899 SV% in three games vs. the Stars last season.

Schneider will start Wednesday in Philadelphia.,

Schneider allowed two goals on 21 shots before leaving the Devils season opener with lower-body cramping. MacKenzie Blackwood ended up blowing the lead in that game and giving up seven goals in Buffalo, so they’ll come back to Schneider tonight in Philadelphia. Schneider was an ugly 2-10-1 with a 3.68 GAA and .889 SV% on the road last year.

Varlamov led the Islanders onto the ice for warmups.

Varlamov stopped 26 of 28 shots in the Islanders 2-1 loss to the Capitals on Friday. Thomas Greiss had an outstanding outing vs. the Jets on Sunday, but it looks like Varlamov will go tonight vs. the Oilers. Everything is pointing towards this being a 50/50 split all season long. He faces an Edmonton team that is 2-0-0 while averaging 4.50 goals for per game so far.

Rittich will start Tuesday vs. the Kings.

Rittich stopped all 34 shots that he faced in the Flames shutout win over the Canucks on Saturday. It was a strong outing for Rittich, who will need to play well to fend off Cam Talbot for starts. He makes for a strong option vs. the Kings, who surprisingly scored five goals in their season debut—a 6-5 loss in Edmonton. Rittich was 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA, .957 SV% and one shutout vs. L.A. last year.
