Anderson will start for the Senators.

After a strong season last year, Anderson picked up right where he left off. He and Ryan Miller had a fantastic goalie battle last night with Anderson coming out on top. He stopped all 35 shots that he faced for his first shutout of the year. He will face the Maple Leafs tonight, who he has 0-2-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .880 SV% against last season.

Anderson will start tomorrow vs. Buffalo.

Anderson had a roller coaster of a year in 2012-13. He started the season 8-4-2 with a 1.47 GAA and a .952 SV% before spraining his ankle in mid-February. He missed the rest of February, all of March and the first week in April for a total of 19 games. When he returned he went 4-5-0 with a 2.02 GAA and .917 SV% which brought his totals to 1.69 and .941; he led the NHL in both categories. This year the Senators should be a playoff team again and Anderson should have another good season.

Giroux made his preseason debut last night after sitting out early in training camp recovering from hand surgery.

“I felt better as the game went on,” Giroux said. “I think the first period was just getting back in the game and making plays.” Giroux won 9 of 11 faceoffs, which is a good sign that his hand is OK.

Flyers announce Claude Giroux will make his preseason debut tonight, following Aug. 15 hand surgery.

Giroux injured his hand in a golf incident this offseason. This is good news for the Flyers as it appears the injury will not force their star center to miss any regular season games. Giroux is one of the NHL's best playmakers and could make a run at the assists lead in 2013-14.

The Edmonton Oilers have acquired left-winger David Perron from the Blues in exchange for left-winger Magnus Paajarvi and a 2014 second-round draft pick.

Perron, 25, was drafted by St. Louis in the 1st Round, 26th overall in the 2007 entry draft. The Sherbrooke, Quebec native had 25 points with the Blues last season, scoring 10 goals and 15 assists in 48 games. He had a career high 50 points in 2009. Perron has three more years left on his contract at a cap hit of just over $3.8 million.

A two-time 25-goal scorer, Giroux is the Flyers' top play-making offensive threat. He had 13 goals and 35 assists for 48 points in 48 games last season. Overall, he has 291 points (91 goals, 200 assists) in 333 career games spread over six seasons in Philadelphia.

Anderson will be back in goal for Game 5.

Anderson allowed six goals on 37 shots in Ottawa's 7-3 loss to the Penguins in Game 4. He now has the 11th ranked GAA in the playoffs (2.66) and dropped from third to seventh in SV% (.928). He was still good despite giving up six goals, he will need to bounce back in Game 5.

Craig Anderson
Anderson will start Game 4.

Anderson was outstanding in Game 3 allowing just one goal on 50 shots in 87 minutes of playing time. The performance moved him up to third among playoff goalies in SV% (.940) and seventh in GAA (2.17). He will need to continue his strong play in Game 4 if the Sens are going to knot the series up at two games a piece.

Anderson will start Game 1.

Craig Anderson was great in the Senators 4-1 series win over the Montreal Canadiens in the first round. He posted the fifth best GAA (1.80) and was tied for second in SV% (.950). He has the daunting task of facing Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, James Neal, Jarome Iginla, Kris Letang... The list goes on and on with this Penguins team. Anderson will need to be Ottawa's best player in this series if they're going to shock the Penguins.
