Anderson will start Saturday vs. the Rangers.

Anderson allowed five goals on 42 shots in the Senators 5-3 loss in Toronto on Wednesday. It was a tough matchup to start the season and things won’t get any easier on Saturday—the Rangers just hung six goals on the Jets on Thursday. Anderson was 13-12-12 with a 3.01 GAA and .917 SV% in 27 starts on home-ice last season.

Anderson will start the season opener in Toronto.

Anderson appeared in 50 games last season, going 17-27-4 with a 3.51 GAA and .903 SV%. Playing for the league’s weakest team makes Anderson as risky of a goalie option as you will find in fantasy and an opening night meeting with the Maple Leafs must be avoided. Surprisingly, he was 2-1-0 despite a 3.36 GAA and .910 SV% vs. Toronto last season.

The Senators have signed Thomas Chabot to an eight-year contract extension worth $64 million ($8.0M AAV).

Chabot is coming off of a fantastic sophomore campaign, scoring 14 goals with 41 assists (55 points) in 70 games. The Senators have a young, up-and-coming team and Chabot could lead the team in points in 2020. The 22-year-old has just one career power-play goal, something that will change this season and allow him to approach last year’s totals.

The Panthers have re-signed Jayce Hawryluk to a one-year, two-way contract.

Hawryluk was selected No.32 overall in 2014 and finally cracked the NHL roster in 2019. The 23-year-old right winger had 12 points (7G / 5A) in 42 games with the Panthers, while averaging just 9:26 TOI/gm. With Brett Connolly and Noel Acciari singing this summer and Owen Tippett knocking on the door to make the team in training camp, Hawryluk could start the year in the AHL again.

Brassard (illness) is expected to play in Game 1 in San Jose.

Brassard missed the final three games of the first round with an illness but is expected to replace Gabriel Bourque for Game 1 against the Sharks. Brassard did not record a point in two games in round one and had just four goals in 20 games after being acquired by the Avalanche.
