Couturier will miss at least two weeks with a Costochondral separation.

Couturier was forced to leave Friday's game with a mid-body injury and did not return. An MRI on Saturday revealed a Costochondral separation, which sounds horribly painful (Google it). Missing two weeks will cost Couturier at least the next seven games. While this is a brutal blow for the Flyers they have some of the best centre depth in the NHL and are built to withstand this loss.

Couturier left Friday’s game and will get an MRI on his shoulder on Saturday.

Couturier was forced to leave Friday’s win over the Penguins with a shoulder injury and will get an MRI on Sunday to reveal the severity of the damage. The Flyers are off until Monday, so he may not miss time if it isn’t too serious but expect the Flyers to provide an update in the next 48 hours.

The Wild have signed Louis Belpedio to a one-year, two-way extension ($700K/$135K).

Belpedio spent the entire 2020 season with the Iowa Wild (AHL), collecting 20 points (5G / 15A) and 102 PIMS in 62 games. Since being drafted in the third round in 2014, the 24-year-old defenseman has appeared in three NHL games, picking up two assists.

The Maple Leafs have signed Wayne Simmonds to a one-year deal worth $1.5M.

The Maple Leafs made it know that they wanted to get tougher to play against heading into 2021 and Simmonds brings some goal-scoring and toughness to the lineup. He's not the 30-goal scorer he used to be and will be a bottom-6 forward in Toronto but has averaged 14 goals, 17 assists (31 points) and 157 hits per 82 games over the last two seasons.

The Flyers have signed Justin Braun to a two-year contract worth $3.6 million ($1.8M AAV).

The Flyers were likely going to let Braun walk in free agency but with the surprising news that Matt Niskanen is retiring, they got to work on re-signing Braun. The 33-year-old scored three goals with 16 assists (19 points) in 62 games while ranking third among Flyers' defensemen in hits (91) and tied for second in blocked shots (84).

Couturier is questionable for Game 6 vs. the Islanders.

Couturier was hurt in a collision with Mathew Barzal late in the second period and did not return for the third. Head coach Alain Vigneault did not have an update on Couturier's status on Wednesday but said that he was "still being evaluated." Consider Couturier a game-time decision for Game 6.
