Simmonds will make his Sabres debut on Wednesday.

Simmonds was acquired from the Devils on Monday and will make his debut tonight in Colorado. Simmonds is expected to start on a line with Marcus Johansson and Jeff Skinner and should see some power-play time as well. He hasn't had the best year, posting just 24 points (8G / 16A) in 61 games but could see increased usage with the Sabres.

The Flyers have acquired Nate Thompson from the Canadiens for a fifth-round draft pick.

Philadelphia will be the eighth different team Thompson has played for across his 13-year career. He registered four goals and 10 assists in 63 games with Montreal this season, playing almost exclusively on the fourth-line. He's expected to see similar usage with the Flyers.

Petersen will start Sunday vs. the Oilers.

Petersen allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Kings loss in Winnipeg last Tuesday. Since coming up from the AHL, Petersen has lost two of his three starts and has posted a sub-optimal 5.02 GAA and .853 SV%. To make matter worse, tonight he will face an Oilers team that gets Connor McDavid back. Look elsewhere.

The Wild have recalled Louis Belpedio from Iowa (AHL).

Carson Soucy is expected to miss one month with an upper-body injury, so Belpedio comes up and will likely serve as the seventh defenseman on Sunday. The 23-year-old has not appeared in an NHL game this season but has two assists in three career NHL games. He's also picked up five goals and 13 assists (18 points) in 55 AHL games this season.
