Rafael Harvey-Pinard (lower body) will miss Thursday vs. Vegas and is considered day-to-day.

Harvey-Pinard appears to be inching closer to a return but will remain out of the Canadiens' lineup on Thursday. Harvey-Pinard will have missed four of the Canadiens' last seven games due to a lower-body injury. The 24-year-old has yet to score this season but has four assists, 11 SOG, and two PIMs in 13 games.

Tristan Jarry will start Thursday vs. New Jersey.

Jarry will start for the Penguins on Thursday as the team looks to extend their season-best five-game winning streak. After a poor five-game stretch (1-4-0), allowing 15 goals on 115 shots (.870 SV%), Jarry has been nearly impenetrable, saving 106 of 111 shots (.955 SV%) in four games since (4-0-0). The Penguins are -132 home favourites against a New Jersey Devils team that has struggled with Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier out of the lineup, losing four of five (1-4-0), averaging only 2.60 goals per game.

Evgeni Malkin (illness) missed practice Wednesday and will be a game-time decision Thursday vs. New Jersey.

Malkin's availability for Thursday's contest against the New Jersey Devils will be determined closer to game time as he did not practice on Wednesday due to an illness. The 37-year-old has yet to lose a step, tallying 17 points (8G / 9A) while playing an average of 17:56 through 14 games this season, predominantly alongside Rickard Rakell and Reilly Smith.

Jarry will start in Columbus on Tuesday.

The Penguins are playing their best hockey of the season and will turn to Jarry as they attempt to extend their winning streak to five games. Jarry has not allowed a goal in over 108 minutes and is rocking a fabulous .975 SV% over his last three games (3-0-0). The Penguins have outscored their opposition by a dominant 20-5 total over their last four contests (4-0-0) and will look to continue their dominance as -173 road favourites against a Columbus Blue Jackets team that scores the seventh-fewest goals in the league (2.73 GF / GP).

Philip Tomasino will be a healthy scratch Tuesday vs. Anaheim.

Tomasino has a goal, an assist, six SOG, two PIMs and a -4 plus/minus through eight games but will be a healthy scratch Tuesday vs. Anaheim. The 22-year-old centre will head to the press box as Michael McCarron takes his spot on the Predators' fourth line.

Caleb Jones has been reassigned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL).

Jones played sensational in his one game showing with the Avalanche after he picked up an assist and +1 plus/minus in 15:42 TOI in his debut Monday but will head back to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) Tuesday. The 26-year-old will be called upon for depth when needed but for now returns to the minors where he had six assists, and eight PIMs in 12 games prior to his call up.

Thomas Novak (upper body) has been placed on the injured reserve and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Novak's absence for the next four to six weeks will be a huge blow to the Predators as he ranked second on the team with 12 points (6G / 6A) in 14 games. Novak was a regular contributor to the Predators' top powerplay unit while regularly playing in the top six at even strength. Cody Glass will likely see his duties elevator while Novak is unavailable to play.

Emil Bemstrom will draw back into Columbus' lineup vs. Pittsburgh.

Bemstrom has only played once in the last five games for the Blue Jackets but will draw back in on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Bemmstrom will suit up on a line with Johnny Gaudreau and Cole Sillinger. In 11 games this season, Bemmstrom has four points (3G / 1A), 19 shots, and a -5 plus/minus rating.

Anthony Mantha (upper body) has been placed on the inured reserve.

Mantha scored two goals in the Capitals' previous game vs. Florida but was forced to leave after 12:58 TOI due to an upper-body injury and has been placed on the injured reserve Friday. The 29-year-old right-winger has started off slow yet again in 2023-24, with his three goals, one assist, 12 SOG, four PIMs and a +1 plus/minus in 10 games played.
