Jarry was pulled after surrendering five goals on 19 shots in the Penguins loss to the Bruins last Sunday. With Matt Murray dealing with a family matter, Jarry will make his third consecutive start this afternoon. Jarry is 4-2-0 with a 3.16 GAA and .893 SV% on home ice this season and he will host a Red Wings team that won four of five prior to their bye week.

Hayes left the Rangers game on Sunday and cancelled his plans to travel during the bye week and returned to New York to receive treatment. The Rangers will practice on Friday and if Hayes can’t get on the ice, he’ll likely miss their back-to-back on Saturday/Sunday.

Jarry stopped 16 of 17 shots before leaving Tuesday’s game in Philadelphia with an undisclosed injury. Despite leaving the game, Jarry was back on the ice on Thursday and backed up Matt Murray. Jarry will start the tail-end of the back-to-back and has a nice matchup against an Islanders team that has lost four straight and 11 of their last 15 (4-9-2).

Aho had no points with three shots and a minus-4 rating in his first two career NHL games. He will take a seat tonight in Philadelphia with Dennis Seidenberg replacing him on the blueline.

Letang has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury but was on the ice for today’s morning skate and will be a game-time decision in Philadelphia. Letang’s offensive numbers are strong this season, posting two goals and 23 assists (25 points) in 37 games but is a minus-15, which lowers his value in leagues that track plus-minus.

Jarry allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Penguins loss in Carolina last Friday. Matt Murray returned to the crease in Detroit on Sunday, but the Penguins will give Jarry another look tonight in Philadelphia. The young netminder faced the Flyers earlier this season, stopping eight of 10 shots in a relief in a 5-4 OT win.

Letang took the ice for the Penguins morning skate but stayed on late which indicates that he will be scratched for the third consecutive game. Being available this morning suggests that Letang may be ready for Tuesday’s game in Philadelphia.

Rust left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury and the Penguins announced that he will be out “longer term.” The Penguins will likely have to dig into their farm system to find some forward depth with Rust out.
