Grubauer is probable to start for the Capitals.

The Capitals recalled Grubauer this morning and sent Andre Burakovsky down to make room, they wouldn’t do that if they didn’t plan on giving him the nod. There is no official word, but given the back-to-back situation it looks like Grubauer will make his season debut. He has gone 16-9-4 with a 2.03 GAA and .924 SV% in Hershey (AHL).

Grubauer, 23, has gone 16-9-4 with a 2.03 GAA and .924 SV% in Hershey this season. He has not played in a game for the Capitals this year, but you have to think he has been recalled to start tonight vs. the Ducks. The Capitals will announce the corresponding roster move later today.

The Blues have sent Colin Fraser back to Chicago (AHL).

The Blues recalled Fraser for Friday’s game so that he could play vs. his former team in Los Angeles. Fraser was with the Kings from 2011-2014. He did not record a point and was a minus-1 in the contest. He gets sent back to the AHL to make room for Jaden Schwartz to be activated from IR.

Schwartz has missed the last seven games with a right foot injury, but will return to the lineup tonight vs. the Sharks. To make room for Schwartz, the Blues have assigned Colin Fraser to Chicago (AHL). Schwartz has 11 goals and 16 assists (27 points) in 31 games this season.

Schwartz, who injured his right foot blocking a shot on Dec. 16 in LA, has been upgraded from week-to-week to day-to-day. Schwartz will travel with the team on their west coast road-trip and could play this weekend if all goes well. In 31 games this season, he has 11 goals and 16 assists (27 points).

The Maple Leafs have sent goalie Christopher Gibson back to Toronto (AHL).

Gibson was recalled to backup James Reimer for the last two games because Jonathan Bernier was out with an illness. With Gibson going back to the minors, Bernier is obviously ready to go on Wednesday vs. the Bruins.

There is no immediate update as to why Gibson is being recalled. Jonathan Bernier is expected to get the start, so James Reimer could be dealing with a minor injury or illness. Expect an update at 3 PM ET when the team arrives to the rink.

The Devils have recalled Adam Larsson from Albany (AHL) after a one-game conditioning stint.

Larsson has missed the last nine games with mumps, but went to the minor for Friday’s game to help him get back up to speed. Despite being recalled, there is no word whether he will play tonight.

Jon Merrill will re-enter the lineup for Larsson who is battling the flu. Larsson struggled to get into the lineup in the early part of the season, but has played well as of late and has four points (1G / 3A) and a minus-2 rating in 17 games this season. He is day-to-day.
