Leivo has been moved to IR due to back spasms that forced him to leave Wednesday’s game in Ottawa. Leivo has been ruled out of tonight’s game and Saturday’s game in Toronto, so moving him to IR was just a formality to active his replacement Brandon Sutter. Leivo is eligible to come off of IR for next Thursday’s game vs. the Coyotes.
Gunnarsson has been out since November 16th but said on Wednesday that he is ready-to-go. However, Gunnarsson skated on the fourth pairing in the morning skate, which suggests that he might not play vs. the Capitals.
Gunnarsson has been out since November 16th but is ready to play on Thursday if the coaches call upon him. Gunnarsson had no points, just eight shots and a plus-2 rating in seven games before getting hurt.
Joseph was a late scratch from Thursday’s game vs. the Maple Leafs and missed Friday’s practice. Joseph is listed as day-to-day, which makes him questionable for Sunday’s game in Winnipeg.
Buchnevich has been out since November 10th but is expected to play Friday vs. the Coyotes. Buchnevich has averaged just 14:53 TOI/gm this season but collected nine points (5G / 4A) in 14 games.
Kyrou appeared in just two games during his call-up, scoring one goal on two shots while averaging 11:58 TOI/gm. Kyrou returns to the AHL, where he has five goals and five assists (10 points) in 14 games.
With Jake Allen and Chad Johnson struggling in the Blues crease, it looks like St. Louis will go with three goalies for a little bit. Binnington is a former third-round pick, who has gone 8-4-0 with a 2.34 GAA and .914 SV% in 13 games with the Rampage this season. Binnington could make his first NHL appearance since the 2015-16 season this week.
Gunnarsson has been sidelined since November 16th and was finally placed on IR to open up a roster spot. Jordan Nolan was recalled to fill that spot and likely a fourth-line role.
Kyrou registered one assist in nine games with the Blues earlier this season before being sent to San Antonio. In 14 AHL games, the 20-year-old had 10 points (5G / 5A). He has been recalled because Robby Fabbri was placed on IR with an upper-body injury.
Leivo has picked up just six points (4G / 2A) while playing a limited role in 27 games with the Maple Leafs this season. Leivo has produced strong numbers at lower levels but has just 28 points (14G / 14A) in 84 career NHL games. He is expected to play a larger role with his new team.
Gunnarsson missed Saturday’s game with an upper-body injury that he suffered last Friday. Head coach Mike Yeo already ruled him out through this weekend, so look for Jordan Schmaltz to remain in the lineup for the time being.
Despite being placed on IR on Thursday, Schenn will play tonight in Vegas. Schenn’s move to IR was retroactive to November 3rd, so he is eligible to be activated before tonight’s game. Schenn is expected to skate on a line with Tyler Bozak and Robby Fabbri and returns to the lineup with nine points (3G / 6A) in 12 games this season.
Schenn has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury, so his movement to IR was just to create a roster spot to recall Sammy Blais before they head to Vegas and San Jose. Schenn is expected to miss both of those games, but is eligible to return whenever he is healthy.
Schenn will miss his fourth straight game on Wednesday, which means that Robert Thomas will continue to play an elevated role. Monitor Schenn’s status as he heads into the back-to-back on Friday and Saturday.
Saad missed the morning skate and was listed as a game-time decision, but is not on the ice for warmups. Saad will sit out for a second straight game.
Saad was a late scratch from Saturday’s game in Philadelphia and his status for Monday’s game remains in question. Saad will not take part in the morning skate and his status will be determined later, making him a game-time decision.
Buchnevich, who has served as a healthy scratch a few times, started playing well right before getting hurt. Buchnevich picked up two goals and two assists in his last three games, but will miss at least one month after suffering a broken thumb on Saturday. This leaves the Rangers without two of their best right-wingers, Buchnevich and Mats Zuccarello.
