Garland was “sent” to the AHL on Wednesday in a paper move before the NHL roster freeze but returns ahead of Thursday’s game. Garland has not recorded a point but has 16 shots on goal while averaging 13:11 TOI/gm in six games.
Garland was given an opportunity to produce right away, playing on the top PP and seeing some top-6 minutes but didn’t pick up a point in six games. He heads back to Tucson where he has 19 points (8G / 11A) in 18 games this season.
With Mike Green out for 3-5 weeks, Hronek comes up from Grand Rapids for the second time this season. Hronek had three points (1G / 2A) in six games with the Red Wings at the start of the season and was even more impressive with 18 points (5G / 13A) in 20 AHL games. Hronek could play big minutes while Green is out thanks to a lack of depth on the Red Wings’ blueline.
Ferland was making his return from a concussion but the Hurricanes removed him from the game because he didn’t feel right. This likely means that Ferland will miss the Hurricanes’ back-to-back on Thursday/Friday.
Ferland missed the last four games with a concussion will be back against the Maple Leafs on Tuesday. Ferland is expected to skate in the bottom-6 to start the game, so he doesn’t have as much fantasy value as he did earlier in the year.
Ferland has missed the last four games with a concussion but is set to return to the Hurricanes lineup on Tuesday. After getting off to a hot-start, Ferland was held pointless in his previous three games and is expected to return on the fourth line.
DeBrusk missed Saturday’s morning skate and is not expected to play vs. the Maple Leafs on Saturday. With DeBrusk out, Gemel Smith is expected to make his Bruins debut and David Backes is expected to move to the second line.
Garland, 22, was a fifth-round pick (No.123 overall) in 2015 and could make his NHL debut this week. Garland is replacing Michael Grabner, who is out indefinitely with an eye injury. Garland leads Tucson with 19 points (8G / 11A) in 18 games this season.
Ferland will miss Friday’s games with a concussion that he likely suffered in Montreal on Tuesday. With Ferland out, the Hurricanes are forced to shuffle their lines and Clark Bishop is up from Charlotte (AHL) to centre the fourth line. It is difficult to pinpoint how long a player will be sidelined with a concussion so consider Ferland day-to-day.
Ferland missed Thursday’s practice and is questionable for Friday’s game vs. the Ducks. Clark Bishop was recalled from Charlotte (AHL) and would take Ferland’s spot in the lineup if he can’t play. Monitor his status during the Hurricanes’ morning skate on Friday morning.
Boeser has missed the last 11 games with a groin injury but is “very likely” to play on Tuesday. Boeser, who had 11 points (4G / 7A) in 13 games before getting hurt, will skate on a line with Elias Pettersson and Nikolay Goldobin in his return.
Juulsen was hit in the face by the puck on two separate occasions in just 3:12 TOI. With Juulsen out at least a week, look for Karl Alzner or Xavier Ouellet to draw back into the Canadiens’ lineup on Wednesday.
Juulsen has been out of the lineup for the last two games, but will play in Edmonton. Juulsen will replace Karl Alzner and re-enters the lineup with three points (1G / 2A) in 13 games this season.
Boeser won’t play Thursday, but Canucks head coach Travis Green didn’t rule out the possibility of Boeser re-joining the Canucks on their road-trip. The MRI on Boeser’s groin came back negative, but they want him to see a specialist to make sure they don’t bring him back too soon.
Juulsen recorded two assists against the Islanders on Monday but failed to register a point in 16:01 TOI on Tuesday. The young defenseman has played well so far this season, but has come out of the lineup to allow Karl Alzner to play a couple of times and will do so again tonight.
Boeser is dealing with a groin injury and will come out of the Canucks lineup in Detroit. Boeser is day-to-day and will be replaced by Jake Virtanen on the top-line. Monitor his status heading into Thursday’s game in Boston.
Di Giuseppe has been a healthy scratch for 10 of the Hurricanes first 12 games, so he’ll go to Charlotte to get some playing time. The former second-round pick most recently picked up 12 points (4G / 8A) in 14 AHL games in 2017-18.
