Pettersson was limited to only 7:50 time-on-ice before exiting Saturday's 5-3 loss to the New York Rangers with an undisclosed injury, and will not play on Monday against the New Jersey Devils. After a mostly disappointing 2024-25 campaign with 35 points (11G / 24A) in his first 55 games, Pettersson was finally starting to produce with the elite ability he's shown in recent seasons, with 10 points (4G / 6A) in the nine games before his injury. He is expected to miss the remainder of Vancouver's road trip.

With Demko (lower body) activated from Injured Reserve, he will make his first start between the pipes since February 8th. The 29-year-old Demko has been limited to only 17 games this season due to various injuries, posting a 2.87 GAA and .891 SV% in 17 games (6-6-3). He struggled to get up to speed after missing two months to start the season but started finding his form before his latest injury, saving 106 of the last 111 shots he faced (.955 SV%) in four games. The Canucks enter Monday's contest as +118 road underdogs against a New Jersey Devils squad amid a two-game losing skid (0-2-0).
