Trevor van Riemsdyk will draw back into the Capitals' lineup Wednesday vs. New Jersey.

van Riemsdyk was a healthy scratch for the Capitals' first game of their back-to-back Tuesday but will draw back into the lineup Wednesday as they take on New Jersey. The 32-year-old will replace Joel Edmundson (maintenance) and will look to pick up his first goal to go alongside his six assists, 34 SOG, six PIMs and -6 plus/minus through 30 games played.

Charlie Lindgren (upper body) has been placed on the Injured Reserve.

Lindgren was originally considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury after leaving the Capitals' game Friday vs. the Islanders and has been placed on the Injured Reserve Wednesday. The injury comes at an unfortunate time for the 30-year-old who was having a surprise breakout season with his 7-3-3 record, .928 SV% and 2.27 GAA.

Trevor van Riemsdyk will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday vs. Pittsburgh.

Van Riemsdyk has played 20 consecutive games for the Capitals, but he will be a healthy scratch as the team attempts to correct their defensive woes after being outscored 13-4 in their last three games (0-3-0). Martin Fehervary is expected to return to the lineup and replace van Riemsdyk on the back end.

Lindgren left Friday's game on Long Island with an upper-body injury and will not return.

Lindgren left the game in the first period shortly after taking a shot up high. Darcy Kuemper has entered the game in his place. We should expect to get an update on Lindgren's injury and a possible timetable for his return following the completion of Friday's game.

Charlie Lindgren will start Friday vs. the New York Islanders.

Lindgren did not play in the last game for the Capitals but will return to the crease after Darcy Kuemper allowed five goals in a 5-1 loss against the New York Rangers on Wednesday. Lindgren only has two wins in his last five games (2-1-2) but has allowed three or fewer goals in each contest, posting a dazzling .937 SV%. The Capitals are +133 road underdogs against the New York Islanders on Friday, despite defeating them 3-2 less than two weeks ago.

Ethan Bear will not make his Capitals' debut Friday after signing earlier Thursday.

After undergoing offseason shoulder surgery and prolonged contract negotiations, Bear signed a two-year, $4.125 million contract with the Washington Capitals on Thursday but will not make his debut yet. The 25-year-old Bear played 61 games with the Vancouver Canucks last season, scoring 16 points (3G / 13A), recording a +6 plus/minus, and registering 82 blocks while averaging 18:32 time-on-ice. Bear should help solidify the blueline for a Capitals team that already ranks top-10 in the league defensively, allowing only 2.75 goals per game.

Thompson will start against the Kings on Thursday.

Thompson will be back between the pipes for the Golden Knights on Thursday for the second time in as many nights after he made his return from an upper-body injury on Wednesday. It's a bit of a surprising move considering Thompson is coming off an injury and did not look particularly sharp in Anaheim on Wednesday, when he allowed five goals on just 26 shots enroute to a 5-2 defeat. Vegas will be hoping he can find his form and put an end to their four-game losing streak when they host the Kings on Thursday.
