Aliaksei Protas has been loaned to the Hershey Bears (AHL).

Protas will have a chance to play in the AHL for the Hershey Bears (AHL) during the NHL all-star break after being loaned down Wednesday. The 22-year-old has three goals, seven assists, 54 SOG, and four PIMs through 42 games so far this season and will hope to be back up post-all-star break.

Charlie Lindgren will start Tuesday vs. Columbus.

Lindgren allowed a goal on seven shots (.857 SV%) in his second straight relief appearance as he picked up no contest in his previous game vs. Toronto. The Capitals' backup netminder started the season hot but has come back down to earth as of late, leading to his 11-6-2 record, 2.66 GAA and .907 SV%. He will take on Columbus, who has lost three of their last four games after a 3-1 loss to Seattle last contest.

Tom Wilson will not play Thursday after being a game-time decision (lower body).

Wilson left the Capitals' previous game after blocking a shot 9:05 TOI into the game with a lower-body injury and will not play Thursday as Washington takes on Pittsburgh. The 28-year-old has two goals, one assist, 13 SOG, and a -7 plus/minus through eight games this season.

Luke Philp will make his NHL debut Tuesday vs. Vancouver.

Philp had 14 goals, 16 assists, 19 PIMs and a +6 plus/minus through 31 games with Rockford (AHL) and has been recalled from Rockford (AHL) for the first time in his career Monday. The 27-year-old will be making his NHL debut after four strong AHL seasons in Stockton and Rockford.

Ovechkin (lower-body) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Ovechkin missed Saturday's game in Vegas but was on the ice for Monday's practice and "looked good," according to head coach Peter Laviolette, making his a game-time decision Tuesday. Ovechkin will replace T.J. Oshie (personal) in the lineup if he's able to go against the Avalanche. Ovechkin is in a bit of a slump, scoring just one goal with three assists (four points) in his last seven games.
