

Dowd has missed the last four games but was on the ice for the morning skate and will be a game-time decision vs. the Hurricanes. If he plays, Conor Sheary and Garnet Hathaway will be on his wings.

Vecchione is a five-year AHL veteran, who has two career NHL games under his belt (both in 2017). The 29-year-old has scored 12 goals with 24 assists (36 points) in 43 games with Hershey this season. He could make his Capitals debut on Tuesday with Lars Eller in COVID-19 protocol.

Chychrun suffered a lower-body injury in Boston on Saturday and returned to Arizona to undergo an MRI on Monday. Chychrun, who may be highly sought after at the trade deadline, will miss at least two weeks.
