The sky is certainly the limit for Toews, who posted career highs in assists and points last season. At this point in his career, he should continue to improve, landing in the 35-goal, 75-point range. With so many question marks in the first round, the former 3rd overall pick certainly would not have been a reach.

Niederreiter was slated to start the season on the top line but won't due to this injury. Last season, the Swiss standout scored 41 goals and 70 points over 55 games with the Portland Winterhawks. Expect PA Parenteau to move back onto the top line for the time being.

With PA Parenteau skating a good amount with the third line, the Isles may try El Nino on the top line to start the season. The former WHL standout scored a goal and as assist in his 9-game tryout last season.

Only Tomas Tatar ranks higher among the Red Wings' offensive prospects. While he should start the season in the AHL, make note of his name for the future.
"A year ago I could do it, now I want to do it," says Niederreiter. Last season, he could play the first nine games with the Islanders, then they sent him back to Portland.
Niederreiter sounds confident in his ability to make the team but will need to knock an established NHL player out of the way to do so. In his nine-game stint last season, the rookie posted a goal and an assist.
Nino Niederreiter (Chances of being around on Opening Day: 45%)- Here is where it starts to get tricky. Fans would love to have El Nino playing wing on Opening Day. I'm sure Garth Snow would love to have Nino in the Opening Day lineup as well.
The 5th overall pick has nothing left to prove at the WHL level but the Islanders would probably prefer not to rush their bluechip prospect.
The Star’s Kevin McGran reports that the deal is for five years and $18 million, with an annual cap hit of about $3.5 million.
Schenn should continue his rugged play, hitting everything that moves. While he is not known for his offensive side, the 21-year-old has improved his counting stats in each of his three seasons. If your league format counts hits, blocked shots or shots on goal, Schenn should have some niche fantasy hockey value.
“What I saw in the rookie camp is Nyquist is going to be an NHL player for sure,'' Babcock said Tuesday. “When is he going to be that?''
Not this season. Nyquist will spend his first pro season with the Grand Rapids Griffins, honing the skills that made him a two-time finalist for the Hobey Baker Award at Maine.
No direct fantasy hockey advice, just an excellent tidbit to remember down the road.
