Jets' newcomer Vilardi will miss approximately four to six weeks after suffering an injury yesterday (sprained MCL) in a matchup against the Los Angeles Kings. In three games this season, Vilardi was seeing time on the top line and top powerplay unit, recording one assist and nine shots on goal. The loss is a sizeable one for the Jets, who will likely turn to Mason Appleton and Alex Iafallo for an increase in playing time.

Schenn's status has been up in the air after sitting out the last three games but is now been confirmed to miss the next four to six weeks with a lower-body injury. He recorded one block and four hits in 15:11 time-on-ice in his only game this season. Last season, Schenn had a league-leading 318 hits along with 22 points (4G / 18A) in 70 games. Dante Fabbro has, and will likely continue, to fill in on the back end in his absence.

Vilardi suffered what the Jets are calling a lower-body injury after falling awkwardly following a hit from the Kings Blake Lizotte. Vilardi scored 23 goals and added 18 assists in 63 games with the Kings last season before heading to Winnipeg as part of the trade that sent Pierre-Luc Dubois to Los Angeles. The 24-year-old Vilardi had impressed in his first two games as a Jet, registering one assist and nine shots on goal.

Hellebuyck will tend the crease for the third consecutive game to open the season for the Jets. After signing a massive contract extension before the start of the season, Hellebuyck has struggled out of the starting block. In his two games so far (1-1-0), Hellebuyck has a very uncharacteristic 4.07 GAA and .852 SV%. He will look to get things back in order tonight as the Jets are -130 home favourites against a Los Angeles Kings team that is still searching for their first win of the season (0-1-1).

Hellebuyck allowed four goals on 21 shots in the Jets' loss in Winnipeg on opening night. It was a tough start to the season for the workhorse netminder, but he should be relied upon whenever he gets the nod. This afternoon he'll face a Panthers team that was shutout in their first game and come in without Aaron Ekblad, Brandon Montour and Sam Bennett.

Anderson-Dolan was a healthy scratch in the season opener but will play Saturday vs. the Hurricanes. The 24-year-old forward was in-and-out of the Kings' lineup last season, totalling just 12 points (7G / 5A) in 46 games.

Anderson-Dolan was waived by Los Angeles last Sunday but has been recalled from Ontario (AHL) ahead of the Kings' game Saturday vs. Carolina and is expected to appear on the fourth line. The 24-year-old centre had seven goals, five assists, 54 SOG, two PIMs and a -11 plus/minus in 46 games with Los Angeles in 2022-23.

Schenn presumably picked up the injury at some point during Tuesday night's opening affair with the Lightning, though there was no mention or report of an injury prior to warmups for Thursday's game against the Blues. The 33-year-old blue-liner rarely contributes offensively, but his absence will be felt in fantasy formats that reward blocked shots and hits. Dante Fabbro will slide into the lineup in place of Schenn.

Hellebuyck is fresh off signing a huge seven-year contract extension worth a whopping $59.5 million and seems likely to get the start in the Jets' season-opener against the Flames. Hellebuyck has had one of the heaviest workloads amongst NHL goaltenders over the last half-decade and will likely continue with that trajectory this season. In 64 games last season (37-25-2), he posted a 2.49 GAA and a .920 SV% along with four shutouts. The Jets are +116 road underdogs against a Flames team that is looking to improve on their 19th-ranked offence from last season (3.15 goals/GM). Last season, Hellebuyck had a losing record against the Flames (1-2-0) despite posting an impressive 2.71 GAA and .924 SV% in those games.

The 30-year-old Jets captain is entering his 13th NHL season (all with Winnipeg) and has 272 goals and 645 points in 723 career games played.

Phillips was poised to make the Blackhawks for opening night but has been assigned to the Rockford IceHogs (AHL) for the start of the 2023-24 campaign. The 22-year-old was Chicago's 2020 fifth-round pick (141st overall) and had a goal, four assists, five PIMs, and a -10 plus/minus in a short 16-game showing in 2022-23. He returns to Rockford where he also had six goals and 23 assists in 51 games last season.

Heinola suffered a fractured ankle in the Jets' final preseason game and is now expected to miss anywhere from eight to 12 weeks. It is a big loss for Winnipeg's back six as the 22-year-old was entering his fifth season with the Jets after producing an assist, five SOG and a -5 plus/minus through 10 games in 2022-23. He has one goal and 10 assists across 35 career games played in the NHL but has never appeared in more than 12 for the Jets in any one season.

Fagemo had two goals, an assist, five SOG, and a -4 plus/minus through nine games with Los Angeles in 2022-23 and has been claimed off waivers by Nashville from the Kings. The 23-year-old left-winger played the majority of last season in the minors with the Ontario Reign (AHL) and had an impressive 23 goals, 32 points and a -24 plus/minus through 56 games last season. He was Los Angeles' 2019 second-round pick (50th overall).

Barlow was drafted by the Jets in the 2023 first-round (18th overall) and has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Winnipeg worth $3.6 million ($1,200,000 AAV). The 18-year-old left-winger had an exceptional season captaining the Owen Sound Attack (OHL) as he picked up 46 goals, 33 assists, 29 PIMs and a +14 plus/minus through 59 games played. He is expected to return to Owen Sound for the 2023-24 season but will have a chance to make an impact in Jets camp.

Pearson had one goal, four assists, 17 SOG, 21 PIMs and a -9 plus/minus through 14 games with Vancouver in 2022-23 and has been traded to Montreal alongside a 2025 third-round pick for Casey DeSmith. The 31-year-old left-winger carries a cap hit of $3,250,000 into the 2023-24 season and has 133 goals and 272 points across 590 career games for three different organizations (LAK, PIT, VAN).

Stanley had a goal, two assists, 11 SOG, 21 PIMs, and a -1 plus/minus through 19 games played with Winnipeg in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year, $1 million contract extension with the Jets. The 25-year-old defenseman was Winnipeg's 2016 1st round pick (18th overall) and has three goals, 20 points, 91 PIMs, and a +13 plus/minus through three NHL seasons and 114 career games.

Kupari had three goals, 12 assists, 53 SOG, 12 PIMs and a -5 plus/minus through 66 games with Los Angeles in 2022-23 and has signed a two-year, $2 million contract ($1,000,000 AAV) with the Winnipeg Jets. The 23-year-old centre's rights were a key piece alongside Gabriel Vilardi, Alex Iafallo and a 2024 second-round pick in the trade that saw Pierre-Luc Dubois head to Los Angeles. In three NHL seasons he has nine goals, 29 points and 112 SOG through 130 career games played.
