The Predators traded center Cal O’Reilly on Friday to Phoenix for a fourth-round draft pick.

O'Reilly saw his breakout season derail last season, missing the rest of the year after 38 games. He moves from one defensive system to another, which he likely can thrive in. A 30-40 point output would not be shocking.

The Minnesota Wild has come to an agreement with the Dallas Stars on a trade that will send forward Eric Nystrom to Dallas in exchange for future considerations.

This move clears the Wild from demoting an NHL-ready player while the Dallas Stars climb closer to the salary cap floor. Don't expect too much from the second-generation player as he only scored 23 goals over 286 NHL games.

The #Flyers have traded Stefan Legein and a 6th round pick in 2012 to Los Angeles in exchange for future considerations.

This trade was simply done for salary cap purposes as the Flyers were at the 50-contract maximum following the failed Blair Betts waiver claim. Don't expect Legein to play in the NHL this season.

Kyle Cumiskey is taking his wheels to California or New York. The speedy young defenseman cleared waivers today and was traded to the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman Jake Newton and a conditional draft pick.

Cumiskey should see bottom pairing minutes with the Ducks. He scored a goal and eight points over 18 games last season but probably won't see much PP time.
