The San Jose Sharks are creeping toward the end of the 2024-25 season with a few injuries, heading into their final six regular-season games.

On Tuesday, the club announced that defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin’s upper-body injury will keep him out for the rest of the season. At the same time, veteran right winger Tyler Toffoli won’t play in Tuesday night’s home game against the Calgary Flames due to a lower-body injury.

Toffoli, however, will travel with the team on their upcoming four game road trip, making him an option to play against the Minnesota Wild, Edmonton Oilers, or one of his former teams in the Flames and Vancouver Canucks

In addition to the remaining Sharks NHL games, Mukhamadullin will also be out for the entirety of the San Jose Barracuda’s potential AHL Playoff run, after sustaining the upper-body injury in the third period of last Tuesday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.

The 23-year-old Russian blueliner split his season between the NHL and AHL, posting two goals and five assists in 30 games with the NHL Sharks and nine assists in 21 games in the AHL. He was eligible for the AHL’s Calder Cup Playoffs, after briefly being sent down alongside right winger Colin Graf last month.

Toffoli, 32, has enjoyed a bounce-back season in San Jose, scoring 28 goals and 50 points in 73 games, the fourth-highest goal total and third-highest points total of his NHL career, since debuting in 2012-13 with the LA Kings.

Last month, the Sharks became the first team to be eliminated from the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs and remain last in the NHL with 50 points in 76 games.

However, that marks a slight improvement after only posting 47 points in 2023-24, and the team has shown developments from key young players, including 2024 first-overall NHL Draft pick Macklin Celebrini, who has 21 goals and 55 points in 64 games.
