Kreider is dealing with a lower-body concern that kept him from practising on Thursday. Kreider has not missed any time but only has two points (1G / 1A) in his last five games and eight shots on goal. He has also seen his hit production decrease significantly this season, averaging only 0.88 hits per game, the least since his rookie season when he averaged 1.57 hits per game.

Kreider left the Rangers' previous game vs. Minnesota after 16:52 TOI with an upper-body injury and is now considered day-to-day. The 31-year-old has 19 goals, 11 assists, 138 SOG, and a +11 plus/minus through 42 games but will miss Thursday's game vs. the Stars.

Kreider suffered a fractured foot in Philadelphia on Friday and will come out of the lineup for at least Sunday’s game. Head coach David Quinn did not have a timetable on Kreider’s absence prior to Sunday’s game but you have to anticipate they will be without him for at least a couple of weeks. Phil Di Giuseppe will move up to the top line to start Sunday’s game.

The Rangers have signed Chris Kreider to a seven-year deal worth $45.5 million ($6.5M AAV).

Kreider was set to become a UFA on July 1, and was long expected to be traded ahead of today's deadline. The seven-year deal will pay Kreider through his age-36 season. Kreider has 24 goals and 21 assists in 60 games this season after posting a career-high 52 points a year ago.
