Chris Kreider News
Kreider (hand) will not travel on the Rangers upcoming four-game road trip.

Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault confirmed that Kreider is dealing with a hand injury and it sounds like surgery is a possibility. For now there is no timetable for his return, but we know that he will miss at least five games and could be done for the rest of the regular season.

Kreider will not play on Wednesday.

There was a report from Bob McKenzie that said he might have a broken hand and could miss one month. It was deleted rather quickly, so the nature of Kreider's injury is unknown at this time. The Rangers said he will not play tomorrow, but would provide no further update. Expect a more detailed injury report tom come on Wednesday.

The Rangers recalled Chris Kreider from Hartford (AHL).

Kreider has two goals and two assists in six games with Hartford. The Rangers don't play again until Thursday, but he was skating on the top-line this morning with Brad Richards and Derek Stepan. He was the 19th overall pick in 2009 but has yet to take the next step in his NHL career. This could be the chance he needs with all the injuries that have hit New York.

The 19th pick in the 2009 NHL Draft Chris Kreider, is in danger of being cut from the Rangers opening day roster.

Kreider has been average during the preseason and might have played himself off of New York's roster. “A lot of players are close but really haven’t shown me they can play at this level on a consistent basis,” head coach Alain Vigneault said. “There are still guys [with a chance] who are going to play [against the Kings] but they have to play better.”

#NYR Both Chris Kreider and J.T. Miller sent back to CT Whale. Neither player saw the ice in the third period Monday night.

Kreider had a strong run in the playoffs last season posting five goals and two assists in 18 games. With his play in the playoffs the Rangers were expecting more out of him this year. He has just two goals and one assist in 17 games.

#NYR Mashinter has been sent down. He will play for CT vs. Albany tonight. Guessing that means Kreider is good to go.

Mashinter who was just called up, was sent down right away. No official word on whether or not Kreider will play tonight but all signs are pointing to him being in the lineup. Monitor his status before game-time.

Last night, he spent much of the second and third periods on the bench, with Taylor Pyatt taking his place on a line with Ryan Callahan and Derek Stepan, something John Tortorella didn't hold back on discussing.

Kreider haas been scratched tonight, and is in danger of being sent to the AHL. Probably not worth holding on to at this point, but Pyatt isn't much of an option either
