Olofsson has only played on NHL game since the 2022-23 season and will have to wait a little longer to add to his NHL totals after being reassigned to the Coachella Valley Firebirds (AHL). The 30-year-old defenseman has 11 points (2G / 9A) in 34 games with Coachella Valley this season.

Olofsson only appeared in one game for the Kraken and had no counting stats across 14:57 TOI and has been reassigned to Coachella Valley (AHL) on Friday. The 29-year-old will return to the Firebirds, where he had a goal and eight points in 41 games prior to his previous call up.

The Kraken recalled Olofsson from Coachella Valley (AHL) on an emergency basis on Monday.

Olofsson will provide depth on the blue-line for the Kraken, who could be without Vince Dunn (upper-body) and Ryker Evans (lower-body) when they take on the Ducks on Tuesday. Olofsson has 62 NHL games to his name dating as far back as the 2015-16 season but is yet to make his season debut.

Olofsson failed to pick up a point across three games with Seattle in 2022-23 but has six SOG and a +1 plus/minus and has signed a two-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 AAV at the NHL level. The 28-year-old defenseman has 11 assists through 62 career games played for three NHL teams in five seasons.

Gustav Olofsson has been recalled from the Coachella Valley Firebirds (AHL).

This will be Olofsson's second crack at the NHL this season after a short one-game stint with the Kraken earlier this season. He is getting the call due to Justin Schultz being placed on the injured reserve after putting up five assists, eight PIMs and a +8 plus/minus through 15 games with Coachella (AHL) prior to his promotion.

Olofsson was recently called up from Laval (AHL) after collecting seven assists in 20 games. Olofsson has appeared in 56 career NHL games (all with Minnesota) since being drafted in the second-round in 2013. Olofsson will replace Brett Kulak on the Canadiens' third-pair.

Olofsson was originally selected in the second-round in 2013 and ended up with Montreal after spending the first four years of his career the Wild’s organization. Olofsson had eight assists in 41 games with Minnesota last season and had one assist in just two games with Laval (AHL).
