Vesey had signed a one-year contract after a successful PTO to start 2022-23 but has now signed a two-year, $800,000 AAV extension with the Rangers. The 29-year-old earned the extension after putting up six goals, six assists, 62 SOG and a +4 plus/minus through 38 games this season.
Vesey was with the Rangers on a PTO and turned it into a one-year deal. Vesey broke into the NHL with the Rangers back in 2017 and played with them for three seasons. Since then, he's been with the Sabres, Maple Leafs, Canucks and Devils over the last three seasons. Most recently, he had 15 points (8G / 7A) in 68 games with New Jersey in 2021-22.
A bug appears to be going around the Devils room, Pavel Zacha missed their last game with a non-COVID illness and now it looks like Vesey may not be available on Sunday. He missed Saturday's practice, so monitor his status as the Devils hit the ice for warmups at 12:30 PM ET.
