Korpisalo has won each of his first three starts this season, despite posting a below average 3.29 GAA and .898 SV%. He continues to steal starts from Sergei Bobrovsky and makes for a decent option against the 25th ranked offence in the NHL (2.60 GF/PG).

The Blue Jackets open their season with a back-to-back in Detroit and Carolina, so they will save Sergei Bobrovsky for the home opener and the tougher matchup. Korpisalo didn’t see a lot of work in 2018 and his numbers didn’t warrant many more starts—he finished the year with a 3.32 GAA and .897 SV% in just 18 starts.

It was a great outing for Korpisalo, who will start the front-end of the Blue Jackets’ back-to-back tonight vs. the Avalanche. The 23-year-old has gone 5-2-0 with a 2.27 GAA and .931 SV% in eight games on home-ice.

Korpisalo allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Blue Jackets loss in Los Angeles last Thursday. With Sergei Bobrovsky (illness) not available tonight, Korpisalo will face the Golden Knights on home-ice. The matchup isn’t ideal, but the 23-year-old has gone 4-2- 0 with a 2.47 GAA and .924 SV% at Nationwide Arena this season.

Korpisalo allowed five goals on 27 shots in the Blue Jackets’ loss in Toronto on February 14th. Korpisalo will start the front-end of Columbus’ back-to-back tonight in Los Angeles. Korpisalo has gone 1-4-0 with a 4.04 GAA and .877 SV% on the road this season and he has a stiff test vs. a Kings team that has won five of their last seven.

The Blue Jackets have recalled Joonas Korpisalo from Cleveland (AHL).

Korpisalo has regularly made the trip to Cleveland this season to stay sharp when Sergei Bobrovsky is starting in Columbus. The 23-year-old has gone 2-4-1 with a 2.15 GAA and .928 SV% in seven starts with the Monsters and is 5-5-0 with a 2.97 GAA and .910 SV% in 11 games with Columbus.

Korpisalo allowed five goals on 35 shots in the Blue Jackets loss to the Lightning in his last NHL start (Dec. 31st). Korpisalo has been getting playing time in the AHL recently and will start the Blue Jackets' first game out of their bye week tonight. He started the first game after their break last year and pitched a shutout in a 7-0 win over the Islanders.
