Joonas Korpisalo News
Korpisalo was the first goalie off of the ice at the Blue Jackets morning skate.

Korpisalo allowed five goals on 35 shots in the Blue Jackets loss to the Lightning in his last NHL start (Dec. 31st). Korpisalo has been getting playing time in the AHL recently and it looks like he may start the Blue Jackets first game out of their bye week tonight. He started the first game after their break last year and pitched a shutout in a 7-0 win over the Islanders. We'll find out later if Torts is just messing with us.

The Blue Jackets have recalled Joonas Korpisalo from Cleveland (AHL).

The Blue Jackets had a few days off so Korpisalo went down to get a start because Sergei Bobrovsky is on a roll right now. Korpisalo stopped 29 of 30 shots in a 1-0 loss to Milwaukee (AHL)—Juuse Saros was doing the same thing for the Predators and he stopped all 27 shots that he faced in a great AHL goaltending duel.

Korpisalo has sat for the last four games and eight of the last nine games so he heads to Cleveland to get some playing time. Korpisalo returning to the AHL for now, suggests that Sergei Bobrovsky could start both games of their back-to-back on Thursday/Friday.

The Blue Jackets did not hold a morning skate.

Columbus has been one of the teams who tend to take the morning off and makes it difficult to get a read on their starting goalie. However, there were two players on the ice this morning, one of which was Sergei Bobrovsky. This suggests that Joonas Korpisalo may get the nod tonight, saving Bobrovsky for tomorrow's game in Chicago. Head coach John Tortorella will speak to the media around 5 p.m. ET and is expected to announce his starter at that time.
